Where Phil Stands

Below are the issues Phil is focused on and the principles that guide how he approaches them.

Strong public schools are the foundation of strong communities, and every child deserves a quality education, no matter their ZIP code.

Public schools educate 90% of Ohio’s children but receive only 76% of state funding. Further reductions are planned in the current state budget. These reductions will put additional strain on our schools, forcing them to rely on tax levies just to maintain basic services.

Phil supports bipartisan solutions that put students first. He commits to implementing the Fair School Funding Act to fund schools based on student needs, repeal laws promoting religion in classrooms, and let educators not politicians decide how to teach.

Ohio families deserve fair and sustainable property taxes that reflect today’s economic realities.

Rising property taxes are putting unnecessary strain on homeowners, seniors, and working families. Sadly the current supermajority is making the situation worse by reducing state funding for schools and local services, shifting the burden to local taxpayers.

The wealthiest Ohioans are already benefiting from reductions in federal and state taxes. Real tangible relief is needed for those who need it most.

Phil believes the Ohio Constitution matters and should be honored.

He supports individual rights, personal responsibility, and a government that respects the voice of its citizens. Regardless of party, leaders have a duty to uphold the law and protect the freedoms Ohioans vote to secure.

In 2023, Ohio voters made clear decisions on both marijuana legalization and reproductive freedom. Phil believes those votes deserve respect.

Legal marijuana should be regulated responsibly, not re-criminalized, and individuals should retain the freedom to make personal healthcare decisions without political interference.

Phil stands firmly for protecting the constitutional right to reproductive healthcare, ensuring access to safe, legal abortion and contraception and opposing any legislation that limits personal autonomy or criminalizes healthcare providers.

Ohio should be a place where businesses want to invest and people can find good-paying jobs.

With decades of experience working alongside business leaders, Phil understands what it takes to grow organizations responsibly.

He supports economic policies that will attract new businesses to Ohio, providing good paying jobs and opportunities for Ohioans.

Phil believes progress happens when leaders are willing to listen and collaborate.

He is committed to collaborating with Democrats and Republicans to find solutions that put people first. Ohioans expect results, not gridlock.
